The seaside in summer is extremely beautiful, with warm sunshine, moist sea breeze, endless sandy beaches, and various water sports. As children, we spent countless days on the beach. When we were kids, going to the beach meant changing into a bathing suit, grabbing a towel, and walking away. Now, when we go to the beach with our children, we have to carry at least two big bags: a pile of cold drinks, a few towels, sunscreen, hats, sunglasses, and other sun protection supplies. Preparing these supplies takes far more time than we spend enjoying the beach and surfing, greatly reducing the happy time we spend with our children.       TinyTraveler - Kid's Collapsible Sunglasses - Pocokids

In recognition of the sharing spirit that comes with becoming a parent, we have put together some tips based on our many years of experience - on how to spend a fun, relaxing, and safe day at the beach with the kids.

1. Sun protection

As a parent, I never want my children to get sunburned by the scorching sun. In addition, I have to say seriously that if a person gets sunburned 5 times or more, his risk of developing melanoma is twice as high as that of the average person. On the seaside in the scorching summer, children are full of energy and lack awareness of protecting their own skin. They are undoubtedly the most vulnerable to sunburn.

As we prepare to take our children to the beach, we parents must remember these basic things:SunnySnow - Anti-UV Kid's Ice Sleeves - Pocokids

  • Put sunscreen on your babies before leaving the hotel, room, or other indoor environment, rather than waiting until we are at the beach. This is because sunscreen takes time to absorb and forms a protective film on the skin's surface that blocks UV rays. And once you get to the beach, there is sand everywhere, making it very inconvenient to use sunscreen.
  • Don’t leave out any part of your child that is exposed to the sun: including the top of the head and ears. A sufficient amount of sunscreen is much more than you think you need. Experts recommend that a person who spends a day at the beach needs at least a glass (about 30ml) of SPF30 or higher sunscreen. Reapply at least every 2 hours.
  • Find a sunscreen that works for you. Every year there are a bunch of recommendations about the “best sunscreen,” but the real “best” must be the one that best matches your baby’s skin type. So, find a sunscreen that you like best that works best for your baby and stick with it.

After sunscreen, the second most important thing is sun protection.

It is very important to buy a parasol or tent/canopy for your child to protect them from the sun. This will provide a great sanctuary for your child to eat delicious food, take a nap, or just run in and cool off. Trust me - you'll find it really helpful.

There is also sun protection equipment:  there are many options from sun protection clothing to hats. They are very light and easy to carry and can protect children's sensitive skin very well. Finally, don’t forget your sunglasses. You need one with a UV protection function. Encourage your children to always wear it when they are active under the scorching sun. Not only can it protect the cute little eyes of babies from being damaged by the dazzling sunlight, but it can also make the children look particularly good-looking.

2. Sand

When children go to the beach for the first time, sand is by no means a favorite of many children. Being in contact with sand is a unique sensory experience that not every child is ready for. Here are some tips to help children fall in love with playing in the sand faster:

Before letting your children set foot on the beach, prepare a small bucket of sand for them, or use other methods to give them a small "warm-up." Wear slippers, sandals, or beach shoes, as the sand will absorb heat and burn your baby's tender feet. Sand close to the water feels very different from sand farther on shore. The sand farther away from the shore is drier and has a higher temperature. The sand closer to the sea water is wetter and the temperature will become lower and lower. The experience is completely different for babies, take the time to let them experience and discover for themselves. Slowly, babies will adapt to liking the beach, and they can participate in interesting and diverse beach activities with their parents.

What can we do as parents?

This is a good tip, you don’t have to spend a lot of money on a bunch of sand-playing tools that will take up space in the future or will break after only one or two uses. In fact, there are a lot of choices in your kitchen.

  • Plastic containers, cups, and screens are great beach toys
  • You can draw on the sand with your hands or branches
  • You can look for beach critters – crabs or shellfish
  • You can run and jump between waves
  • You can even build your own sandcastle and bury your little feet in the sand
  • Of course, you need to be careful - sand is heavy and not stable at all

No matter how you entertain your kids, remember to always keep an eye on them! Safety always comes first. Gone are the days when you could just relax on the beach with your eyes closed and let your mind wander (unless you can convince your kid’s dad to help you at work). Instead, you'll be sweating, covered in sand, and making wonderful memories with your kids. You will be very hard on this day, but you will also be very happy. These happy and happy memories will always be in our minds!

3. Water

Keeping your skin and body hydrated is very important, especially for children. Moisture can make babies more motivated when playing. So bring plenty of water (you might as well freeze it the night before to keep it cool). Fruit, such as watermelon, ice cream, and juice are all available.

4. How to do this?

When you have one or more children, a bunch of snacks, drinks, a big bottle of sunscreen, a parasol, and magazines (that you lie to yourself that you have time to read) it’s a huge challenge for parents!

Strollers are difficult to maneuver on the beach, and sand and seawater will accelerate the deterioration of the stroller's metal frame. But not all strollers are difficult to use on the beach. Those with large plastic wheels are more suitable, and there are also strollers specially designed for use on the sand. Another solution is to pack everything in a bag as big as possible - assuming you have the muscles to carry it wherever you go.

5. Facts that cannot be ignored

There is another fact that you can never ignore:There is sand everywhere! Bring an old sheet and lay them out on the beach. If you're taking the kids and all of this stuff home in the car, wrap everything in sheets to avoid getting sand in the car. If you're walking back to your hotel or home, place any sandy items on the sheets and wait for them to dry, then pat the sand off before taking them inside. —Dry sand is much easier to clean than wet sand.

One last thing: talcum powder is an easy way to remove any leftover sand. Yes, after coming back from the beach, sand is bound to be everywhere.

Take a good bath at night. Sand can get into children's swimsuits and diapers, which can cause considerable irritation to children's delicate skin. Washing your children carefully will make this beach trip more enjoyable for everyone.
